Treatment Options

Mounjaro (Tirzepatide):

Mounjaro (active ingredient is Tirzepatide) is the latest breakthrough in weight loss medication. Mounjaro is administered through weekly self-administered injections, it targets the GIP (glucose-dependent insulinotropic polypeptide) and GLP-1 (glucagon-like peptide-1) receptors in the body. These receptors play crucial roles in regulating appetite, food intake, and insulin sensitivity. By activating these receptors, Tirzepatide effectively curbs cravings, promotes feelings of fullness, and regulates glucose metabolism, leading to reduced food intake and enhanced metabolic health.

General FAQs

Medical weight loss involves a comprehensive approach to weight management under the supervision of healthcare professionals. Unlike commercial weight loss programs, medical weight loss programs are tailored to individual needs, combining evidence-based strategies such as dietary modification, physical activity, and prescription medications where appropriate.

Our programme accommodates individuals with a BMI exceeding 30, or those with a BMI over 27 who have an obesity-related condition.

The process begins with a health questionnaire followed by a virtual consultation. During the consultation, we’ll review your medical history, assess your eligibility for the program, and discuss the process in detail.

If eligible, we’ll proceed to an in-person meeting to take measurements such as weight, height, and observations before initiating treatment.

We offer treatment options such as Wegovy and Mounjaro, along with comprehensive medical support and guidance.

Yes, both Wegovy and Mounjaro are considered safe for long-term use.

Yes, while our treatments can aid in weight loss, it’s important to maintain a healthy lifestyle by following a calorie-controlled diet and engaging in regular exercise.

Yes, our clinic is regulated by the Care Quality Commission (CQC), ensuring high standards of care and safety. Our healthcare professionals are registered with the GMC or NMC as appropriate.

Costs vary depending on the chosen treatment option and at what step you are on. Prices start at £200 per month of treatment and will be discussed in more detail during the consultation.

Results may vary from person to person, but many individuals start noticing changes within a few weeks of starting the programme. Consistency and adherence to the programme are key to achieving successful outcomes.

Mounjaro FAQs

Mounjaro is a ground breaking treatment for managing obesity and type 2 diabetes, now available at the Yorkshire Wellness Clinic. Using the active ingredient Tirzepatide, Mounjaro helps regulate appetite and blood sugar levels. It mimics the two natural hormones Glucagon-like peptide-1 (GLP-1) and Glucose-dependent insulinotropic polypeptide (GIP), making you feel fuller faster and for longer, which can significantly reduce overeating and cravings. By reducing your appetite, you should be able to consistently be in a calorie deficit, which is essential for losing weight.

Yes, Mounjaro was approved by the MHRA in 2023 for type-2 diabetes and obesity. It is licenced for use for people who have a BMI over 30, or those with a BMI over 27 with a weight-related medical condition. At Yorkshire Wellness Clinic, we offer consultations to assess if Mounjaro is the right option for you for your weight loss journey.

Mounjaro works by helping you feel full faster, reducing the urge to snack or overeat. It also slows down digestion, so you stay fuller for longer. Mounjaro works best when combined with healthy eating and regular exercise. Our patients have found it easier to manage their cravings and stick to a balanced, reduced portion diet with the help of this medication. Being able to consistently maintain a calorie deficit without feeling deprived you should be able to lose weight sustainably and consistently.

Mounjaro is suitable for adults with a BMI of 30 or higher (considered obese) or those with a BMI between 27–30 who have weight-related health condition. Contact us if you are unsure or would like to discuss further.

Mounjaro comes in a simple, pre-filled injection pen and is taken once a week. You’ll start on a low dose and gradually increase it over time. The injection is easy to administer – you can do it yourself at home by injecting it into your abdomen. The needle is extremely small, and the injection is often reported as painless. We’re here to support you at every step:

  • we have training devices for you to practice with the pens
  • we will supervise your first injection at your face to face appointment
  • if you need any further support with your following injections we can also arrange this.

If you miss your weekly dose, you have up to 96 hours (four days) to take it. If more than four days have passed, skip the missed dose and continue with your next one as scheduled. Never take two doses at once to make up for a missed injection. If unsure, get in touch.

You can inject Mounjaro under the skin in your abdomen, thigh, or upper arm. The injection is straightforward and designed to be self-administered. We usually recommend injecting into the abdomen.

Yes, for the best results, we recommend combining Mounjaro with a healthy diet and regular exercise. Mounjaro helps control your appetite, but lifestyle changes are crucial for long-term success. We will support you with making those changes.

It’s a good idea to limit alcohol intake while using Mounjaro, but it does not have to be cut out all together. Alcohol can interfere with how your body manages blood sugar, which Mounjaro is designed to regulate. Plus, alcohol is high in calories and can increase cravings for unhealthy foods.

Most people tolerate Mounjaro well, but some may experience mild side effects such as constipation, nausea, diarrhoea, or tiredness when they first start. These usually ease after a few weeks. Rarely, more serious side effects can occur, such as allergic reactions or pancreatitis. At Yorkshire Wellness Clinic we will discuss these side effects in detail both at your virtual appointment and initial consultation and while on the programme we are here to help manage any side effects you may experience.

You’ll likely notice weight loss within weeks with most patients reporting good losses over the first month. The full effects are often seen after several months of use, especially when combined with diet and exercise. Our clinic will help monitor your progress and adjust your plan as needed to ensure the best outcomes.

As of 2024, Mounjaro can be prescribed on the NHS for people with type-2 diabetes or obesity. Our clients in Leeds and York have found the referral criteria strict, funding limited and waiting times significant. At the Yorkshire Wellness Clinic, we offer private consultations to help you access treatment quickly and efficiently.

Wegovy FAQs

Wegovy is a prescription weight loss medication with the active ingredient Semaglutide. It works by mimicking the GLP-1 (Glucose-like peptide-1) hormone that regulates appetite, helping you feel fuller and less hungry, so you eat less. At Yorkshire Wellness Clinic, we offer Wegovy as part of a holistic weight management program for those who qualify, providing ongoing support to ensure the best results.

Yes, Wegovy was approved in the UK for weight management in September 2023. It’s designed to be used alongside a healthy diet and exercise and is suitable for people with a BMI of 30 or above. If you have a BMI of 27 or higher with a weight related condition, you may also be eligible.

Wegovy helps by reducing your appetite, so you feel full quicker and stay satisfied for longer after meals. By reducing hunger and cravings, it makes it easier to stick to a lower-calorie diet consistently, which is essential for weight loss. Combined with regular exercise and support from our clinic, you can see significant changes in your weight and health.

Wegovy is typically prescribed to adults with a BMI of 30 or higher, or for those with a BMI of 27–30 who also have weight-related health issues like high blood pressure or heart disease. If you’re unsure about whether Wegovy is right for you, the team at Yorkshire Wellness can guide you through the process and create a weight loss plan that fits your needs.

Wegovy is administered once a week via a simple, pre-filled injection pen. You can inject it yourself into your stomach, thigh, or upper arm. Our medical professionals will show you how to use the pen correctly, ensuring you feel confident and comfortable with the process. The needle used for injection is very small and most patients report barely being able to feel it.

If you miss a dose, you can still take it within 4 days of the missed injection. If more than 4 days have passed, skip that dose and take your next one as scheduled. Our team at Yorkshire Wellness Clinic will provide personalised advice to help keep you on track with your treatment.

You can inject Wegovy under the skin of your stomach, thigh, or upper arm. Many of our patients in find the injection process painless, simple and easy to do at home, but our staff are always available to offer support and guidance if needed.

Yes, combining Wegovy with a healthy, balanced diet and regular physical activity is key to achieving long-term weight loss success. Your progress will be monitored regularly, and we’ll be there to provide any help you need along the way.

While occasional alcohol consumption may not interfere with Wegovy, it’s best to limit drinking alcohol. Alcohol can affect blood sugar levels and add extra calories, which might slow down your weight loss progress.

Some common side effects of Wegovy include constipation, nausea, diarrhoea, and tiredness. These usually ease as your body adjusts to the medication. Rare but more serious side effects, such as allergic reactions or pancreatitis, can occur. At Yorkshire Wellness Clinic, we’ll closely monitor your progress to ensure your safety and well-being throughout the treatment.

You may start noticing changes in your appetite and weight within the first days. However, the most significant weight loss typically happens over several months of consistent use.

As of 2024, Wegovy can be prescribed on the NHS for people with obesity. Our clients in Leeds and York have found the referral criteria strict, funding limited and waiting times significant. At the Yorkshire Wellness Clinic, we offer private consultations to help you access treatment quickly and efficiently.

Both Wegovy and Ozempic contain semaglutide, but they are used for different purposes. Wegovy is approved in the UK for weight loss, while Ozempic is typically prescribed for managing type 2 diabetes and is not licenced for weight loss. If you’re looking for a weight loss treatment, Wegovy is the option we offer at our clinic, and we’ll guide you through all the details during your consultation.
